...about this week's game in Minnesota.
I think Kansas City is a better team than many people think right now. Which is fine. I think Kansas City lost those two games because it was the biggest game the Bengals played in all year, and it was the biggest game the Broncos played in all year. Sometimes emotion can outdo skill, although it can't last the season. Right now, the team to beat is the Patriots, and they are facing what KC faced a few weeks ago: beating them will salvage an entire season for both the Jets and the Bills. I don't think they can win both games. If they lose to the bills (my preference), KC will own the tie-breaker even if we lose one of our final two games against Minnesota and Chicago.
But I'm worried about this weekend because I have no idea which Minnesota team will show up. Will it be the team in which Randy Moss tries hard and the defense plays well, like earlier in the season or like they played against the Seahawks? Or will we get the dispirited team that lost 13-10 to the Bears and had a four-game losing streak?
I'm hoping for the latter.
The Chiefs do have experience going up against Randy Moss, thanks to scrimmages with them every summer. Kansas City's defense seems to be improving slightly. They still allowed one long run by a Detroit running back (more on that in the next post), but Minnesota doesn't really have an overpowering running attack or an amazing defense. That should put Minnesota in the same position as Detroit and many other opponents earlier in the year: down by 2+ touchdowns and needing to pass will play into the strength of KC's speedy defense.
But I'm worried because although we should win out, on any given Sunday...
