Flutie To Start Again

Marty Schottenheimer has elected to start Doug Flutie this weekend when the San Diego Chargers go to Detroit to play the Lions. This team has failed to live up to any of the preseason expectations and now are debatably the currently worst ran franchise in the NFL.

The Chargers' defense is the worst the NFL, maybe not statistically speaking (although very close) unable to stop any offense on any possession. If/when the Chargers' defense is able to offer some resistance and the game remains relatively close, the offense has failed to show any spark. Dropped balls and penalties plague every Charger drive. The lack of any offensive line protection is the most glaring problem. Most teams only need to rush 4 defensive linemen to apply enough pressure to be disruptive.

It does not matter who is taking the snaps for the Chargers at this point, the season has long been over. Marty is looking to hang onto his job by getting a couple late season tallies, which regardless will do nothing to lift the Chargers' franchise from the bottom of the NFL.
