Coach Marty Schottenheimer said quarterback Drew Brees will make a second straight start Sunday at Pittsburgh and, barring the unexpected, work the season finale the following week against visiting Oakland.
Brees returned to the lineup Sunday in a 38-21 loss to Green Bay for the first time since being benched for five weeks because of his struggles on the field. He threw for a career-high 363 yards and two touchdowns, but also committed three turnovers, including a back-breaking fumble that was recovered at the San Diego 1 in the fourth quarter.
"He managed the offense effectively and, I thought, he threw the ball accurately and with velocity," Schottenheimer said. "I was very pleased in that regard. I think his decisions were good. The disappointing thing is . . . we can't give them the ball."
