I wish this could be a more thorough update, but once again the information just isn't out there. Oh, to be the voice of volleyball on the internet!
The U of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine have wrapped up their regular season undefeated in WAC conference play. Across 16 matches UH lost only one game. Overall they were just about as dominating, going 26-1, without dropping a game in 23 of those matches.
The cloud that surrounds this silver lining: The lone blemish on Hawaii's resume came at the hands of top-ranked and undefeated USC, 3 games to none. Granted, that was three months ago, but it was so solid. I have to wonder if it won't hurt them mentally should they face the Trojans again.
Barring an unlikely collapse in the WAC tournament, Hawaii and USC should enter the NCAA tournament lined up to meet in the Final Four. Here's hoping it plays out that way as that is usually when ESPN will finally pick up coverage of this sport. That match would be a must-see!
One other women's volleyball note: Arizona crushed 6th-ranked UCLA 3-0 last week. This isn't quite David and Goliath stuff, but it's very close.
