The Colts fell to 7-2 today with a tough loss on the road to the Jacksonville Jaguars, 28-23. The Indianapolis Star reports,
The Indianapolis Colts limped out of Alltel Stadium Sunday afternoon, beaten, banged up and befuddled.This was a tough one, but you have to regroup at this point in the season and not be satisfied with where you are. The Jets come to Indianapolis next Sunday, followed by the Bills and Patriots.The beating was administered by the Jacksonville Jaguars and running back Fred Taylor, AFC South cellar dwellers who turned a 13-point halftime deficit into a 28-23 victory with a dominant second half against the division-leading Colts.
Banged up? Four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Marvin Harrison exited the game in the second quarter with a hamstring injury of undetermined severity. Rookie free safety Donald Strickland, starting in place of injured Idrees Bashir, did not play in the second half after sustaining a back injury and backup running back Brian Allen was KO'd by a concussion.
"No way can we use (injuries) as an excuse," said quarterback Peyton Manning.
And no way, on such short notice, could the Colts explain how they lost their grip on a dank, dreary afternoon against a team that had lost 12 of its last 14 games, including seven of eight this season.
