Coaching Change Needed?

Ken Burger in today's Charleston Post & Courier writes that

No doubt about it, the guy's gotta go. He obviously can't coach a lick. He's been on board five years and still hasn't produced a consistent winner. They only hired him for his name, anyway.

Looks like it takes more than fame to win football games. Big football games. His record against winning teams is terrible. And sometimes he loses to the losing teams. And it always seems to happen on television.

He arrived with the kind of fanfare that signals the beginning of another era, but the reality is rather ordinary. And nobody wants ordinary.

He's not talking about Tommy Bowden, either. Read his whole column to find out who he's referring to.

John Roberts:

SMU will be making a huge mistake if they do not let Coach Bennett stay on course with his rebuilding plan. I am a huge Kansas State fan and was very impressed with Coach Bennett during his three years in Manhattan. He learned from the greatest coach ever (Bill Snyder) that no shortcuts can be taken to operate a great program. Given the proper time and support, SMU will have an outstanding program under Coach Bennett.
