In a game that has removed all doubt that the Chargers are the worst team in the NFL, the Chargers lose to the Chicago Bears 20-7.
Doug Flutie replaced Drew Brees to start the fourth quarter and in one possession almost matched the Chargers total offensive production up to that point. Marty and his coaching staff continue to perplex those watching this team... Brees went into halftime with a QB rating that was in the teens and left Brees in for another quarter. The Bears, who up until yesterday, looked to be as poor a team as the bolts but Anthony Thomas, Dez White and Chris Chandler all looked like All-Pro candidates, as do all offenses that face the Charger defense.
Flutie should start the remainder of the season and although it may spark the offense the defense again proved why the Chargers are a bad team. Anthony Thomas looked like a Pro-Bowler for the first time this season and probably the only time. Chandler was rarely pressured and the only time the Bears did not effectively move the ball against the Chargers was when they either were called for penalties or dropped passes.
The only question left for the Chargers this season is whether or not they will use their #1 overall pick to select a quarterback or trade the pick away.
