A Tale of Two States

Here's how bad Minnesota fans are:

Here we've got our beloved University of Minnesota Gophers winning at historic levels. And our adored Minnesota Vikings have one of the best records in professional football.

But there's little joy in Minneapolis or St. Paul or Duluth or Zumbrota.

Listen to talk radio, read the local sports sections and you hear moans and read misery. What's wrong with the Gophers?! What's wrong with the Vikes?!

You'd think the Vikings and Gophers are the dregs of their leagues. Nope! The Vikings are 6-2 and are at the top of the NFC North. The Gophers are 9-2 and having their best season since 1905.

Vikings' coach Mike Tice is even envious of the Packers.

I have to say I admire Packer fans. They stick with their team no matter what.

I dare say that there wasn't some grumbling over in Packerland about the Packers after their game one loss in their new stadium.

Packers fans have the irrational opinion that any year can be a championship year. We're just consistently high on our team. That's unlike the manic depression of Minnesota fans who will be enthusiastic after one win then get so hard on their teams after one loss. Vikings owner Red McCombs may not be a Minnesota native but he's caught this strange affliction.
