Sports TV ratings correct?

Let's call this a vanity, or a questionnaire for anyone and everyone to answer.

Are sports TV ratings accurate?

Chris Mohr, filling in for Tony Korheiser this morning, brought up a great point I'd like to expand upon, that in today's age of remotes and 500 channels, don't most sports fans click the switch during commercials?

Personally, Saturday's GamePlan ensures I am always watching whatever college football game is close.

The ramifications of this is, doesn't that render TV ratings systems inaccurate? I know that the Nielsen system requires a minimum threshold of minutes watched, but what if your a channel clicker.

Essentially you're watching both - tonight clicking between the Colts/Bucs and A's/Sox, staying for whatever is more exciting.

I wonder what some thoughts on this issue are.
