Now that I am over my initial shock that the Red Sox have lost again to the Yankees, it's time for reflection.
This was a tough pill to swallow. However, the team played well all year long and gutted it out until the end. We honestly have nothing to be ashamed of. I mean, shit, we could be the Detroit Tigers.
I feel extremely bad for Tim Wakefield. The guy pitched two gems in the ALCS only to be the goat in the end by giving up the dinger to Aaron I didn't do shit the entire ALCS Boone. Wakefield was obviously devastated after the loss. His post game interview was tough to watch.
It was fun watching baseball that counted in October. I thank the Red Sox for that. This team was enjoyable to watch and a good bunch of guys to like. There's not one person excluding that fucking idiot Grady Little who can't coach under pressure on this team that's not likeable.
I watched just about 90% of the Red Sox games this year. I watched all the Yankees match-ups and even watched most of the time they were beating up on the Devil Rays - sorry Hector. It's a heart breaking loss and I am crushed. But as I and every member of Red Sox Nation does every year, we'll piss and moan until pitchers and catchers report to camp move on and focus our attention on to the Bruins, Celtics and Patriots.
It's a birth right to be a Sox fan. With that, comes the heart break and torture that the team puts you through every year. It really does suck and there's nothing we can do about it. We demand that the owners field a competitive team. They seem to do that every year. But every year they seem to come up short. This year, they came within five outs of going to the show. It just wasn't in the cards.
Yea, I'm pissed off. Yea, I want to beat every Yankee over the head with a Louisville Slugger. Yea, I would run over Grady Little if I saw him in the street. But you know what? That still isn't going to make me feel better. Nothing will. I've accepted that.
Yes, my friends, I hate to say it....
It's over.
