BREAK up the braves

Tim Tucker says we should expect a radically different line-up for next year's team:

Don't be surprised if you look up one day late this month and find the Braves' roster decimated. More than half of their players --more than half! -- can become free agents.

While the fretting has been focused on the possible loss of four high-priced players -- Greg Maddux, Gary Sheffield, Javy Lopez and Vinny Castilla -- they are among at least 13 Braves eligible to file for free agency after the World Series.

The others include:

*All three of the team's first basemen (Robert Fick, Julio Franco and Matt Franco);

*Most of the bullpen (Jaret Wright, Will Cunnane, Kent Mercker, Darren Holmes and Roberto Hernandez);

*Reserve outfielder Darren Bragg.

The number of free-agency-eligible Braves will swell to 15 -- 60 percent of a 25-man roster -- if the team declines to pick up its 2004 options on starting pitcher Shane Reynolds and reliever Ray King. The team is certain to pick up its option on 21-game winner Russ Ortiz.

Josh:

its a sad end to a Baseball dynasty.

Have you ever heard of a more dominating team in any sport in the last decade?

Sad to see
