Could Pat Riley please fire his replacement Stan Van Gundy now. It's only one game into the season and he's proven to be incompetent. In the game, rookie Dwayne Wade took a first half charge injuring his hip. He played in pain and was ineffective in the second half. Van Gundy shouldn't have played Wade and the Marquette star agreed. "Honestly, I probably should have taken myself out because I was no factor to my team in the second half. I only hurt us, I thought. It hurt a lot, but I played on it so I should've played better," said Wade. To add insult to Wade's injury Van Gundy slapped him on his hip. Understatingly, Van Gunday said, "He didn't really appreciate that."
What was Pat Riley thinking? It's one thing to retire from coaching, but to put someone with no good track record as a head coach is puzzling. In his last head coaching job, Van Gundy turned a promising Wisconsin Badgers team into a mediocrity going 13-14 in 1994-95. Does Riley know the team will be so bad that it isn't worth having a real coach leading them?

Well, now they've got their home court in the playoffs. Couldn't have been all that bad a decision after all, huh? Or do you think Riley underestimated his successor?
