ESPN's Ivan Maisel reports that former Washington State coach Mike Price, who was hired by Alabama this past offseason only to be fired for an embarrasing scandal before the first game, is the leading candidate to for the Arizona job created by the firing of John Mackovick.
Defensive coordinator Mike Hankwitz, who takes over as interim coach, is a lifer and is well respected throughout the game. He has coached at Texas A&M and Colorado, but never has been a major college head coach in 33 seasons.Livengood said that Hankwitz will coach through the end of the season. But, as the athletic director showed Sunday, he may not be able to read a calendar.
It is no secret that Livengood hired Mike Price at Washington State and worked with him for many years. Price, as you may have heard, is currently out of work.
Arizona plays at Washington State on Saturday, and if Livengood has any sense of the dramatic, he will hire Price on Monday. If Livengood has any sense, period, he will wait. Price isn't going anywhere.

Of course, all the mainstream media chided CatTracks.net into retracting the Mackovic firing and Price as consultant story Friday-Saturday but none of them are mentioning it now when they float their Mike Price stories.

Price isn't going to UA, neither is Neuheisel, despite what Stewart Mandel of CNNSI and Ivan Maisel keep printing.
UA's President is a HUGE proponent of clean programs. He won't allow any coach to come in whose had even a whiff of scandal or problems.
Trust me, count those guys out.
