LOPEZ BREAKS CATCHER HR RECORD

Atlanta Braves catcher Javy Lopez hit his 42nd home run of the season as a catcher Saturday, breaking Todd Hundley's major league record for the position.

Lopez also has one homer as a pinch-hitter, giving him 43 overall this season.

Hundley hit 41 for the New York Mets in 1996.

Lopez drove a 2-1 pitch from Philadelphia's Amaury Telemaco over the left-field wall in the second inning. Lopez stood at the plate, admired his blast, tossed his bat, then jogged slowly around the bases.
