An exclusive feature here at SportsBlog is my weekly Freaks of the Week. This soon-to-be highly coveted award goes to the best fantasy players of the week. Let's get on with it.
At the QB position we go to the Arizona-Detroit game. 66 combined points were scored in that game. The Lions' Joey Harrington demonstrated why he was such a high draft choice last year by throwing 4 TD passes. But he isn't a Freak. That's because the Cardinals' Jeff Blake went crazy and threw 3 TDs along with a whopping 363 yds.
On to the running backs. We go to the Denver-Cincinnati game where despite 3 interceptions by Jake Plummer, Denver won. This was due to Clinton Portis rushing for 120 yds and 2 TDs.
For the tight ends, the Freak is Alge Crumpler. He caught 5 balls for 94 yds and 1 TD against the Cowboys.
In selecting the kicking Freak, I really wanted to give it to the Titans' Craig Hentrich. Here's a punter who fills in for the injured Joe Nedney and kicks three important field goals in the win over the Raiders. Sadly, Craig doesn't get it because he's a punter, and in fantasy land nobody cares about punters. Instead, 49er Jeff Chandler gets the honor by kicking 5 field goals and 4 extra points against the very bad Bears.
Last, but not least, we come to the defense Freaks. Buffalo shut down the Patriots, and Tampa Bay showed no rust by shutting out the Eagles. However, the New York Giants' defense had 6 sacks, 1 interception, 3 fumble recoveries, and scored 1 TD against the Rams. That's what fantasy players drool over when looking at defenses.
Jeff Blake, Clinton Portis, Alge Crumpler, Jeff Chandler, and the NY Giants defense, you will forever be remembered as SportsBlog's first Freaks of the Week. Now, go tell those companies you do sponsorships for to advertise here. We give, and you give back. OK?

How 'bout some love for Priest Holmes? He got more fantasy points this week than Portis. (Although, sadly, my team, with Priest, lost to a team featuring Portis. But it wasn't my RB's fault.)
And how about Chris Chandler? He was sitting on my bench and scored 26 points, while Marvin Harrison, my stud, only got 4. Aargh.

I think you meant Chris Chambers, not Chandler who seems to get a concussion just by taking a snap.
I picked Portis over Priest because he got more rushing yards. That's what an RB is supposed to do.
