It will be another week before the condition of Giants long snapper Ryan Kuehl is known. He injured his elbow in the Jet game last Saturday, causing a pinched nerve and numbness in his hand. This worries Giants coaches and fans, as the Giants used five long snappers last season, Trey Junkins being one of them. His screw-up in the playoffs on January 5 in San Francisco will go down in Giants infamy as one of their most painful losses. (Of course, the refs NOT KNOWING THE RULES played a part, as well, but I won't go there)
Several other players missed practice on Monday, including Michael Strahan (toe), Will Allen (tight hamstring), Chris Bober (ribs), Marcellus Rivers (quad), Osi Umenyiora (bruised lower leg), Mike Hollis (back) and Nick Greisen (hamstring).
The Giants trimmed their roster down to 69 (league limit of 65 plus four NFL Europe players) by cutting S Charles Drake, WR's Kevin Walter (two of the team's seventh-round draft picks) and Derek Dorris, QB Ryan Van Dyke, RB Antonio Warren, TE Mark Inkrott, T Dion Merideth, G Vincent Sandoval, DL's John Frank, Cliff Washburn and David Thompson and LB Eddie Strong.
