There are six position battles to watch for Thursday night against the Lions, three of which also impact fantasy skill positions.
I will breakdown the "boring" non-fantasy battles first.
O-Line: Mike Pucillo has, barring disaster, already supplanted Marques Sullivan as the starting right guard and the other four starters are firmly entrenched. Marcus Price remains the primary backup for both tackle positions, and Sullivan will be the primary backup at guard. Mike Pucillo is also the backup center. That leaves Ben Sobieski (LG), Ross Tucker (RG), and Mike Houghton (RT) to duke it out for probably one spot, but maybe two. My guess is Sobieski, the rookie fifth round pick makes the team. Gary Byrd (LT) is on IR.
D-Line: Lauvale Sape (LT, Rookie, Utah) and Grant Irons (RE, 2nd yr., ND) are both on the bubble. Both will not be on the 53 man roster, and perhaps neither will. The Bills may opt for depth at end with Marcus Jones and Keith McKenzie both coming off injuries.
Linebacker: Josh Stamer, Mario Haggan, and Angelo Crowell are competing for one spot. I'm going out on a limb here and saying that DaShon Polk and Dominique Stevenson have already made the team, leaving the battle to those three. Stamer had a big sack and a forced fumble in the last preseason game, but I think Crowell makes it based on the fact he was a third round pick this year. The other two both have practice squad eligibility remaining, and I would not be surprised if one of them ends up there.
